Christian Neighbors provides the following service, program and annual events.
Please note, there is a process to assure that the need is clear. Anyone who has a genuine need will receive assistance. Referrals are made by area churches, the Department of Human Services and other agencies.
New Outerwear For Children and Adults
Sponsored by the Delano Foundation and caring community members. Qualifying clients will receive new winter coats, snowsuits, hats and mittens from October through March. Children may receive a new coat every two years, and adults a new coat every five years.
Thanksgiving Baskets
Referrals for those in need are made by area churches or other caring individuals. There is also a sign-up program for Christian Neighbors' clients. The baskets provide a wonderful dinner with all the trimmings.
Gift of Love Hearts
The Heart program provides an opportunity for you to buy a Christmas gift for someone less fortunate. In November paper hearts decorating Christmas trees will be on display in most area churches, schools, banks and Lake Vista. Each heart lists an individual’s clothing need.
Holiday Food
All the "fixins" for a Christmas dinner are provided to clients. There is a sign-up program for clients.
Heating and Electric Assistance
With funding from the Delano Foundation, The Kalamazoo Diocese and community donations, this program provides financial assistance with heating and electricity for clients who have a shut off notice or have no propane.

Rent Assistance
Christian Neighbors will work together with other agencies, churches and clients to help with eviction notices.

Baby Layettes
Qualifying moms with new babies receive a complete layette which includes: new boy’s or girl’s clothing, diapers, sleepers and bedding. A snowsuit is added for the winter.
Back to School Program
Clients may begin to sign-up in early July, and clothing is distributed in August. CN provides children with a new outfit for school. New jeans, shirts, underclothing and socks are given to each child. Each child also receives a backpack with school supplies.
Senior Program
Sponsored and totally funded by the: Dr. Walter & Marie Baleiko Memorial Trust. This program was developed to enrich the lives of seniors in the Saugatuck/Douglas/Fennville area. Home visitations, financial assistance for medications, transportation to the doctors, lap blankets and many other services are provided. Senior “Fresh Produce Vouchers” provide fresh fruits, vegetables and/or milk.
